They can only be accessed by the river. These mountains are considered one of the main touristic sites in the Department of Guainía and are located within a Puinave indigeous reserve.Popular CultureThe Cerros de Mavecure are featured in the film Embrace of the Serpent. The Governor of the Guainía Department partly decorated Ciro Guerra, the director of the film, with the Order of the Inrida Flower for highlighting the land feature in the film.

  • The best way of knowing them Hills is with an agency. Make this trip on your own is more expensive and difficult. Inírida still is a place remote and not have access land or many tourists. You must first reach Inirida, there are flights by Satena from Bogotá and Villavicencio. If you have a Chair on the right side of the plane of ida, will see the hills in the distance. After 2-3 hours in boat from Inirida (depends of the boat) one arrives to the hills of Mavecure. On one side of the hills is the backwater and the other community the community of deer. We stayed in the deer, where indigenous people speak Spanish and although they are a little shy, friendly. We got Mavecure and the view is incredible. There is that take was the time of enjoying the show. I recommend to wear boots with rubber soles, it normally rains, and climbing the rocks become very slippery. From October to April is summer, there will be beaches and can camp. From May to September is winter and the river rises, so there will be no beaches and landscape changes. Enjoy the visit, rarely will see something similar.

  • The journey to Inírida is one of the best experiences I've had in my life! Visit these hills was something that I always wanted to do and thanks to Colombia hidden travel agency managed it. I arrived at Inirida from Bogota by Satena, but this airline also has route from Villavicencio. The flight lasts more than one hour. The climate is warm tropical (very wet) but very nice! The first night we stayed in the Orinoco Real hotel, in the Centre of inírida. We were accompanied by the Guide Emilio to the lagoon the ratcheting flying boat about 15 minutes from the port of Inírida, there we saw pink dolphins or Toninas as they are called there, I've already gone to Leticia the Amazon River to this same activity, but in the lagoon of the rattle I saw many more and much closer! The next day madrugados went off to the hills, in the flying we spend one hour and 40 minutes. There we made the climb to Cerro Mavecure. We delay an hour up and one down. The view is spectacular! Really is total mind recommended this plan!
