Piedra del Penol, Guatape

(4.7/5 based on 1,600+ reviews on the web)
Hulking over Laguna de Guatape like a mammoth, Piedra del Penol offers incredible views and a cultural experience rolled into one. The massive, free-standing rock formed millions of years ago makes such a dramatic impact on the scenery that it was worshipped as a god by the indigenous communities. Climb 200 m (656 ft) up the dizzying spiral staircase carved into the back of the rock to enjoy what some Colombians describe as "the best view in the world." Remember your visit with a souvenir, sold by the stalls on top of the rock. Plan your visit to Piedra del Penol and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Guatape trip itinerary maker.

  • The spectacular view that is seen, is beautiful. It was very full of people, down really, there are very cheap dishes, which is good. They are not exaggerated with the tourist.
