Templo de Santo Domingo, Cartagena
(4.4/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
A historically significant place of worship, Templo de Santo Domingo, housed Dominican friars until the 19th century. The church displays a distinctly rustic colonial architecture, its chipped orange facade counterbalancing the look of the plaza that stands before it. Inside, the decoration is simple and authentic, with gravestones laid on the floor and a deep blue dome over the main alter. The stone arches of the central nave show off the architect's skills and carry their age rather well. • not only the Church and its beautiful altar, plus the area raises the proximity of bars, museums, craftsmen and the inevitable Café Juan Valdez

  • Simple and beautiful church located in the square of the same name. On the same square are also the statue of Gertrude and several bars and restaurants. Certainly it's a mandatory stop.

  • What a beautiful church. I went 3x and found it closed and went back specifically to go to mass even though I am not of that faith.

  • Located in the plaza, with the same name, it is a very sober Church whose façade is of stone and the interior of diverse and intense colors. Nice and quiet, people come to find a moment of peace.
