St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral, Cartagena

(4/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Step through the heavy red doors of St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral and set your gaze along the central nave to admire a golden altar. Completed in 1612 according to an Andalucian-inspired design by Simón González, the episcopal cathedral adds an airy touch to the old streets of Cartagena, with its light yellow facade and pink dome. As you walk through the columned cathedral, look up to the top of the walls and behind the altar to appreciate a collection of intricate wood carvings. Plan your visit to St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Cartagena trip itinerary planner.

  • The Cathedral of Cartagena is located in a beautiful building that calls a lot of attention. However, I couldn't find it open a day. According to some sites it is closed for works. Worth knowing ...

  • With its walls of coral the interior is insulated from the outside, in addition to being a great place for contemplation, a refuge for days of intense heat of Cartagena. Currently, (jan/Feb 2017) she is closed most of the time due to a major reform in progress.
