Plaza Santo Domingo, Cartagena

(4.3/5 based on 2,800+ reviews on the web)
Surrounded by colorful buildings and verandas, Plaza Santo Domingo serves as a hub for the city's outdoor dining and cafe culture. Head for the square and marvel at the brightly hued homes surrounding it, or snap a picture with the delightfully chubby Botero statue in the center. Don't miss stopping in at the 16th-century church, one of the city's most famous landmarks. You can wander the square's many stalls selling local arts, crafts, and souvenirs, or grab something to eat at the numerous outdoor restaurant tables. Afterwards, kick back with a coffee or a drink and enjoy the plaza's bustling activity. • The square is fun and there are good stores and restaurants around. However in high season it is not so pleasant to go for many people.

  • A very normal square with little relevance crowded of people, few options to eat, quite dirty and the type of food in general with fast food is an overrated place.

  • Is one of the busiest squares in Cartagena, both during the day as at night. Has many bars and restaurants, which further increases the flow of people, especially at night. It is common to find artists in the square, showing and selling your art. Another great attraction of the square and the statue of Gertrude, donated by Fernando Botero, which yields great photographs.

  • Uma das mais belas PLAZAS de Cartagena
  • Beautiful and peaceful. I went on a Sunday morning to hear a bit of the church service. It was accessible and not at all crowded.
  • Beautiful! This is one of the nicest colonial towns ever.
  • Its cheap and delicious, the only thing i hated was the waiting time they can be really really slow and it is understandable for the big amount of clients those restaurants get but besides everything is fine and its a must go place to eat if you are in cartagena
  • No other place this like plaza. You can't leave to Cartagena without chilling here for and hour or two.
