Playa De Punta Arena, Cartagena

1.0
#4 of 6 in Beaches in Cartagena District
Relax on the fine sand and swim in the crystal clear waters of Playa De Punta Arena, a vibrant public beach full of local flair. You can book a round-trip boat tour with lunch included at one of the stalls along the shore, including some private charters that visit more remote, peaceful parts of the beach. Be aware that plenty of vendors here use pushy methods to sell their wares, and some may try to take advantage by hiking prices up. • The beach of Punta Arena is on an island just opposite the beaches in Castillogrande, and boats leave the zone of el Laguito. We went on family and initially had a brief bad experience, after fixing a wreck from 40 thousand Colombian pesos to go and return (10 thousand per person) after a saline-to 300 meters from the coast stood engine (had to change gasoline jerrycan) boat While we were trying to change the agreed price asking twice, there it feels a little extorsionado (with the family to three hundred meters from the coast with three adults who will discuss the price) but were able to bring them back and get off the boat. There we choose another and I was all excellent. Council is: you don't listen to nothing what you offer the boat, first calm look and I chose the boat that it seems more new, with the best engine, more larger and that the price fight it than can and more clearly. We arrange with Mr. Alberto snow white boat and then everything went very well, if they find it I recommend it. The beach is Yes it is no better than the beaches are on the side of Castillogrande, water is less clean and the beach is very narrow. The picturesque is clear the straw umbrellas, the vegetation of the island back... i.e. is not an urban paya but more natural, wild if you like. I.e. it is a beautiful beach but is nothing like Baru, it is not a must but if you want a cross by boat and a different day goes very well with the care that I told them to hire the boat. For children and adolescents there are many nautical tours and options, and the cost of a parasol is 30 thousand Colombians or free if one is going to pay for the lunch.

  • If you like to enjoy the sand and the sea: swimming, play racket ball, the Sun, etc. This beach is an excellent choice of waters and clear sands, clean, no hustle, no boat parked on the sea. I had excellent service from the restaurant where we had lunch and the boatman. The prices are similar to the tourist anywhere in Cartagena. Vendors are everywhere. So I totally recommend going to spend the day in family, friends or partner.

Where to stay in Cartagena

Despite its status as a major tourist hub, Cartagena offers a good choice of affordable places to stay. If you're looking to splurge, consider staying at one of the town's restored colonial-era buildings, which now house boutique hotels packed with modern amenities. Alternatively, several old monasteries in Cartagena's walled colonial district offer outstanding facilities at very high prices. Budget-conscious travelers can explore the many mid-range hotels and low-cost hostels clustered in Getsemani, an up-and-coming neighborhood and center of the backpacker scene.
