Parque del Centenario, Cartagena

3.7
#3 of 6 in Parks in Cartagena
Head to Parque del Centenario for a walk through lush, pristine park space while commemorating those who lost their lives during the revolt for independence in Colombia. Visitors also flock here to observe a variety of animal species in the wild; iguanas, birds, and monkeys (among others) all inhabit the area. Having spent much of its life unfinished due to a lack of funds, the park has undergone a recent renovation that has brought vibrancy to the place. There's plenty of canopied, shady areas here too, so bring a book. • The Park has both value the avez, iguanas, monkeys, squirrels, and sloths. In addition to all trees fruit trees that exist, but were not eat animals. The Mayor's office does not give them to eat and change the water it once a week. Just saw a glass of talk with water in a tree that I fill in the week that I was only so they could drink monkeys. Asked which took care of the Park by the water for the iguanas and I replied that they went to the source to take water, and in the week that I was strong was only a meter of water and also doesn't rain very often by Cartagena. I felt well feeding monkeys and squirrels banana, they like it so much.

  • This Park, in appearance like you see a lot in the cities. Yet, if we look carefully, one can discover squirrels, iguanas, sloths, and the "mono titi" (Monkey). They are relatively numerous, but he must have the eye. Many birds including of the parrots at certain times.

  • Nice park to relax a bit while visiting el centro viejo
  • Good place to unwind, talk to locals and admire nature.
  • As you walk through, if you see other people looking up in the trees, stop and take a look! We saw a sloth, a giant iguana, red squirrels, and little monkeys in our walk through the park. It's a pleasant way to get between the walled city and the Gethsemani neighborhood.
  • Not that special. Quiet and local people hang in there.

Where to stay in Cartagena

Despite its status as a major tourist hub, Cartagena offers a good choice of affordable places to stay. If you're looking to splurge, consider staying at one of the town's restored colonial-era buildings, which now house boutique hotels packed with modern amenities. Alternatively, several old monasteries in Cartagena's walled colonial district offer outstanding facilities at very high prices. Budget-conscious travelers can explore the many mid-range hotels and low-cost hostels clustered in Getsemani, an up-and-coming neighborhood and center of the backpacker scene.
