  • In this Museum, thanks to our excellent guide Jimmy, we learned much of the history of the Foundation of Cartagena and the Colombia. We got came the privateers and pirates. The Museum starts with pre - Colombian history and goes up to our time. Jimmy speaks good french and with passion, he tells us about his country. At the end of the visit, we can sound authentic Liberty Bell. It is a museum not to be missed

  • Located in the plaza de sta. Teresa, is the naval museum of the Caribbean. Where there is a sample of the naval of Colombia since before history of the colony. With reviews of boats, weapons, etc. Until modern times, submarines etc. This signalled by times with their respective descriptions. With a guide is always better to understand. The entrance is 16,000 Colombian pesos per adult.

  • Best museum we visited in Colombia. We received a brief history of the city and the countries naval history. Very good diagrams and models of the city over time with good explanations of what the background history. The guides english wasn't great (if your spanish isnt great either) but made up for it with knowledge and enthusiasm.
  • Great museum! Was really a surprise for us. You can touch everything. Ask for a free English guide as all exhibits are in Spanish only.
  • If you don't speak Spanish, you aren't able to spend some good and informative time in the museum. Besides that it's a nice place and they try to keep the exhibition diversified.
  • Excellent place for families to visit! Even our two year old had a good time. The first floor of the museum focuses on the history of Cartagena, and the second floor is about Colombia's modern navy. There are a lot of interactive exhibits on the second floor - the submarine simulation was an especially big hit. It's worth the entry fee of approximately $6 for adults (under $1 for kids).
  • Cool museum, nice installations, interesting stories. But there is nearly nothing available in english - no worries, the guy at the entrance is happy to help for about 7-10 usd to guide you through the exhibition. Just make sure you write down the price before you start as we agreed on COP20,000 and at the end he was pretty adamant that we need to give him COP30,000...

Where to stay in Cartagena

Despite its status as a major tourist hub, Cartagena offers a good choice of affordable places to stay. If you're looking to splurge, consider staying at one of the town's restored colonial-era buildings, which now house boutique hotels packed with modern amenities. Alternatively, several old monasteries in Cartagena's walled colonial district offer outstanding facilities at very high prices. Budget-conscious travelers can explore the many mid-range hotels and low-cost hostels clustered in Getsemani, an up-and-coming neighborhood and center of the backpacker scene.
