Museo del Oro Zenu, Cartagena
(4/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web)
As far as gold museums in Colombia go, Museo del Oro Zenu would probably get the silver medal, but it still makes for an extremely worthwhile visit. Often labeled as a smaller version of Bogota's Museo del Oro, the museum places a strong emphasis on Colombia's indigenous Zenu culture and their use of gold in decorations and religious artifacts. The free museum also displays household items used by the Zenu people and explains how they utilized irrigation and flood-management systems to their advantage. Spend an hour wandering through the museum in air-conditioned bliss. • There are a number of amazing gold objects in this small museum and a bit of information about about the pre-Columbian peoples that made them. Entrance is free!
  • Small, but great and for free, just in the old town center! Some great pre colombian artifacts just in the front of you! Ac inside is perfect in the middle of the hot day
  • Small-mid sized museum next to a city plaza. It displays and tells the story of the Spaniard's attempts to seize indigenous gold and relics while giving a good glimpse into the craftsmanship of the gold items, how climate affected the region, etc. Worth a stop. And its free and air-conditioned too.
  • Fairly small, but free. So, the price is right.
  • Very cool artifacts on display that you can see quickly - it's free!
