Museo de Arte Moderno, Cartagena

Categories: Art Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
3.8/5 based on 60+ reviews on the web
Consisting of two buildings built two centuries apart (in the 17th and 19th centuries, respectively), Museo de Arte Moderno entices visitors every year with its collections of important modern Colombian and Caribbean works. Though a small museum, it offers an insight into local and regional art and artists. Expectations should be tempered as the facilities may not live up to other experiences of more modern museums; there is no cafe onsite and the building is not air-conditioned. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Cartagena holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Museo de Arte Moderno and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • After the visit to the staid Museum of San Pedro Claver, nothing better than to walk into a world more contemporary and thought-provoking. When I was there, I came upon an exhibit of etchings based on texts/phrases contained in the great work of Garcia Marquez.
