2.4/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
Small and intimate, Museo de Arte Moderno boasts a collection of Colombian and South American art that reflects the continent's melting pot of cultures. The museum occupies two spaces: a 17th-century colonial building with walls of red brick and mortar, and a 19th-century warehouse where the Central Bank kept bags of salt. The museum has been operating since 1979, when its collection was initiated by a grant from the Organization of American States (founded 30 years earlier in Bogota). Walk through the rustic halls and see large-scale paintings of vivid coloring, bronze heads and figures, and modern metal sculptures. Rent an audio guide to learn more about the exhibited works. Take a rest on the square in front of the museum among life-size sculptural groups depicting genre scenes.
