Monumento Pedro de Heredia, Cartagena
(3.1/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
At the heart of a colorful and historical city plaza proudly stands Monumento Pedro de Heredia. The statue commemorates Pedro de Heredia, a Spanish conquistador and explorer of Colombia. He is credited with founding the walled city of Cartagena, and many walking tours of the old town start here (appropriately). Local vendors surround the statue, selling everything from coffee to cheap, cold beer. Close proximity to other historical sites, including the former slave market, means you can combine your visit. • It is an important monument for the city. It seems to me that an interactive guide who was this character could have technology which is there today and that meant for the history of Cartagena, Colombia.

  • I believe that the location of the monument to Pedro de Herdia deserved a broader site, due to its historical significance. If the objective was that tourists see it and ask who was, it is accomplished, but a park would be most appropriate

  • The monument, in bronze, stands in the Plaza de los Coches and is too hot for tourists. Could have more explanation about Pedro de Heredia.
