Monumento a Los Zapatos Viejos, Cartagena

3.0
Admire the quirky Monumento a Los Zapatos Viejos, also known as the "Old Boots Monument" because it resembles a pair of old shoes. The charming statue is dedicated to Colombian poet Luis Carlos Lopez and inspired by his famous poem "My Hometown." Take a photo with the large bronze boots and don't forget to read the endearing sonnet, comparing the poet's love of Cartagena to loving a pair of reliable old shoes. Monument of giant shoes of bronze in which one you can put inside. Just to take photo and who will entertain the kids a while.

As part of the roadmap of tourist who visit Cartagena, this sculpture is located in a square right next to the San Felipe de Barajas, is good place to make pictures, try to avoid the timetables that have chivas (buses that take tourists) because the queue is enormous.

The downside is that many people will and you can not take you good photos because you have to go out fast boot. Grilled San Felipe Castle.

The shoes are OK, but since they are a very short walk away from the castle, you might just as well go there. The view of the shoes with the castle in the background is nice.

Where to stay in Cartagena

Despite its status as a major tourist hub, Cartagena offers a good choice of affordable places to stay. If you're looking to splurge, consider staying at one of the town's restored colonial-era buildings, which now house boutique hotels packed with modern amenities. Alternatively, several old monasteries in Cartagena's walled colonial district offer outstanding facilities at very high prices. Budget-conscious travelers can explore the many mid-range hotels and low-cost hostels clustered in Getsemani, an up-and-coming neighborhood and center of the backpacker scene.
