Monumento a Los Zapatos Viejos, Cartagena

3.0
Admire the quirky Monumento a Los Zapatos Viejos, also known as the "Old Boots Monument" because it resembles a pair of old shoes. The charming statue is dedicated to Colombian poet Luis Carlos Lopez and inspired by his famous poem "My Hometown." Take a photo with the large bronze boots and don't forget to read the endearing sonnet, comparing the poet's love of Cartagena to loving a pair of reliable old shoes. • If you do the castillo san felipe you spend, but it's just for the photo. Everyone wants to go inside, is that they are large, just chivas next station.

  • The area where this monument that is not historical, but recent is not very nice compared to the other cartagena, is uncomfortable when wanting to take a picture, since it is attacked tourists... There's not much to do there unless you go on a tour and where to pass the Castle San Felipe is on the other side

  • Usually very crowded. Not many shaded places to sit around. Good for a five minute visit.
  • Beautiful sculpture! Apart from the photo inside the shoe there's nothing special to do around.
  • Great except for all the street vendors in the plaza trying to scam you
  • It's a great place to visit, it's near to Castillo San Felipe".
  • This kid is great great! If you really really listen to him.

Where to stay in Cartagena

Despite its status as a major tourist hub, Cartagena offers a good choice of affordable places to stay. If you're looking to splurge, consider staying at one of the town's restored colonial-era buildings, which now house boutique hotels packed with modern amenities. Alternatively, several old monasteries in Cartagena's walled colonial district offer outstanding facilities at very high prices. Budget-conscious travelers can explore the many mid-range hotels and low-cost hostels clustered in Getsemani, an up-and-coming neighborhood and center of the backpacker scene.
