Las Bovedas, Cartagena

(3.3/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Originally built as storerooms for ammunition, Las Bovedas now house bars, galleries, and souvenir shops. Built between 1792 and 1796, the 23 former dungeons attached to the protective city walls represent the last major construction effort of colonial times. Browse through well-stocked shops selling traditional Colombian merchandise, such as emerald jewelry, hammocks, and Indian textiles. • Its arc-shaped architecture is very beautiful, where were the cells of prisoners is where are the shops sell souvenirs, hats, shirts bought a Panama Hat, I think best time to go is in the morning and don't be ashamed to haggle, as all Cartagena they like to negotiate

  • If you have little time in your trip you can skip this part. Some good shops are crappy in the lower part of the structure and at the top there's nothing ...

  • A kind of hybrid between a seedy shopping center and a public market. lots of tourists, lots of local merchants. Mandatory stop for all the guides and/or local bus drivers. What a waste of time. Nothing to do, nothing to buy. Avoid at all costs.

  • It's a pretty cool setting / building. But there's nothing special about the stores inside. You can buy these souvenirs anywhere in town.
  • Great for tourists. Not many had AC or fans. Prices vary from shop to shop. It's worth seeing if you want some souvenirs.
  • A lot of souvenir shops, fortunately done with a nice style. The building is worth visiting too, really nice colors and great, colonial vibe.
  • Prices for tourists... Nothing special about the souvenirs. The building is interesting but nothing worth visiting if it's not already on your way.
  • Great place showing the history of Cartagena
