Iglesia de Santo Toribio, Cartagena

3.8/5 based on 90 reviews on the web
One of Cartagena's smaller churches, Iglesia de Santo Toribio dates back to some time between the 17th and 18th centuries. Survey the intricately carved Mudejar paneling, a style of Iberian architecture, and learn about the cannonball that, during a packed service in 1741, came through a window into a hall of worshippers. Luckily there were no casualties, but--incredibly--the same cannonball remains on display inside one of the walls of the church. Don't leave without seeing this piece of history. Iglesia de Santo Toribio is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Cartagena Edition.

  • Located a few meters from the Hotel Casa del Curato where we alojabamos hit us the beauty of this temple quite crowded by locals and tourists... .equipada with air conditioning by the strong heat of Cartagena is located in the neighborhood of San Diego and is characterized by the charm of the buildings ancient and very well maintained in its architectural appearance. A temple to visit.. .se officiate mass at noon (12 pm) to historical religious value very recommended!

  • Was closed so I can only assess the outside of it, which is very nice and clean, as the entire walled city! I was impressed with the cleaning of the streets/sidewalks.
