Casa Museo Rafael Nunez, Cartagena

(3.8/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
For insight into Colombian political history, head to Casa Museo Rafael Nunez--the charming mansion of the late poet, lawyer, and president. Nunez is credited with writing the words of Colombia's national anthem, and partly of the nation's constitution of 1886. One wing of his residence now serves as a museum, where you can survey some of his personal possessions and documents. For an extra glimpse into his life and times, head to the chapel opposite the house, which holds Nunez's ashes. Not all guides will have English as a spoken language; bring a phrase book along. • The residence of Mr. Rafael Nudez, former President of Colombia, is very interesting to visit in view of the importance it played in the history of this country, having been elected four times. A visit worth visiting, it is free and the staff is welcoming.
