Cristo Rey, Cali

Monument
Climb to the top of the Hill of Crystals to see Cristo Rey. The large statue of Jesus Christ stands 26 m (85 ft) tall and overlooks the village. Made of iron and concrete, the statue commemorates the 50-year anniversary of the end of the War of a Thousand Days, a Colombian civil war. Take it slow while scaling the hill so you can view the sculptures of Carlos Andrés Gómez, who has sculpted various works into the side of the hill. • This is a must-see in Cali. It is not a must see because the particular awe of the statue--Christ's remarkable sacrifice notwithstanding--but because of where it takes you. The viewpoint over Cali, in addition to the views west towards the Parque Nacional, and possible glimpses of the Central Cordillera above Cali's tropical haze all conspire to inspire. It's a worthwhile trip (with cheap parking!). Also, if pizza--and only pizza--is on your to-do list, it's also the place. No less than 16 pizza joints are strewn upon the stretch up to the Cristo Rey. Why only pizza? I have no idea. But they all have views and it fits the bill for an evening watching the sun set through the misty climes.
  • Loved the view. It is a little crowded but totally worth it
  • Nice place to stay to have a great view through Cali city.
  • Is a nice place to know, with a beautiful view of city Santiago de Cali
  • Amaizing
