Puente de Boyaca, Boyaca

(4.5/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Visit the historic Puente de Boyaca, a bridge that pinpoints the location of the legendary Battle of Boyaca. Situated in a lush green valley, the bridge is surrounded by monuments dedicated to the famous battle that was won by the forces of Simon Bolivar and granted independence to Colombia. Cross the Teatinos River via the small bridge, which was actually built a century before the iconic battle took place there. Nearby you can view the other monuments, such as the Von Miller sculpture dedicated to Bolivar, the statue of General Francisco de Paula Santander, or the perpetually burning Liberty Fire. • Beautiful place to learn from history and see pass the time with tranquility. There are options to eat. To arrive can take a bus from the station of buses of Tunja for 2,000 pesos. The same applies to the return.

  • Let us immediately, at first, the visit of this bridge has nothing spectacular. A small stone bridge that dépareillerait not in a nice European Park. Actually what more the Park around the bridge that initially attracts the retina. However, when one delves into the history of the Colombian and nearly 10 years of war for independence that we better understand the immense respect that Colombians have for this site. Do not miss!

  • A tiny bridge over a little stream that is so important in Colombian and South American History. Asked to visit and diverted tour for such.  more »
  • After hearing about a bridge where a battle was fought, I was excited. Then we got there, the bridge itself was pretty underwhelming I honestly was expecting something bigger. The story behind the bridge and the lights truly made up for what it lacked(which was size, nothing else) 1.000 peso to use the restroom just as a heads up.
  • I visited the place in a very sunny day. It was wonderful. Very nice pictures
  • Espectacular
  • Patrimonio de la Nación
  • Historical heritage of Colombia, tourist stop in the Department of Boyaca, ideal for family.
