Teatro Colon Bogota, Bogota

#33 of 245 in Things to do in Bogota
Don’t miss the majesty of Teatro Colon Bogota, Colombia’s national theater. The recognized National Monument, built in a colonial neoclassical style by Italian architect Pietro Cantini, is the oldest concert hall in the country, having been inaugurated in 1892. Those familiar with the Palais Garnier in Paris may notice that the auditorium resembles its Parisian counterpart, though at around half the size. Check the theater’s schedule to see what operas, plays, and musicals are showing, or take a tour of the building. Make your Bogota itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.

  • The Teatro Colón is a national monument and in truth, a architectural work what to see, visit and enjoy. The second agreement of the Government with the FARC, was signed there, the 24 November 2016. Opened since 1982, there you can enjoy works and concerts in the Hall Foyer.

  • The Colón Theatre has been a temple of culture for centuries in Bogota, its interior, newly remodeled, is relatively small but very beautiful. It is part of the history of this city.

  • The theatre is quite small compared with the colon theatre of Buenos Aires, representing Colombia. Feeling that the history of Europe a little deserted the theater building.

  • Great place to know about the art history of Colombia. Italian theater style. Beautiful frescos 🏛
  • Amazing! A must-see place! One of the mos Beautiful theaters in world for sure! Gastronomy and architecture fantastic
  • El lugar es una maravilla. La ubicación difícil. La forma que está organizada la seguridad es absurdamente ineficiente y a mi juicio no genera seguridad real.
  • This is a beautiful theater that has been recently restored and has good selection of opera, music concerts and other events throughout the year.
  • Beautiful historical venue. Art is well appreciated in there. Amazing performances have seen that theatre. Highly recommended. There's also guided tours during weekdays.

Where to stay in Bogota

Many visitors to Bogota stay in La Candelaria, a colonial-era neighborhood in the city center where you can find plenty of decent hostels and mingle with tourists from around the globe. Staying in this area also puts you within walking distance of the city's major museums and best nightlife options. If you prefer to sleep in a quieter area and visit this busy district during the day, consider accommodations in the northern section of the city, which includes the upscale neighborhood Zona T.
