Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, Bogota

4.6
Rising a full 15 m (49 ft), the statue at Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe dominates the landscape from its 3,300 m (10,827 ft) peak. Hike up the unpaved road with a guided tour, or take a cable car to the top and survey the whole of Bogota as you ascend. Once there, marvel at the statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the work of Bogotan artist Gustavo Arcila Uribe. Several earthquakes, the last one in 1917, destroyed the original 17th-century hermitage that stood here. • We went on a weekday, so the church was closed. Can't say how it is inside. But we went for the views of Bogota and it was well worth it. Definitely better views than from Monserrate.  more »

Being there not alone for breakfast, what buenismo is located.

  • Guadalupe unlike Monserrate you can go by car. Take the road to Choachí and you arrive to 3300 meters. North of this route, see Monserrate, South the beautiful statue of ls Virgin of Guadalupe. Also some people climb on foot.

Where to stay in Bogota

Many visitors to Bogota stay in La Candelaria, a colonial-era neighborhood in the city center where you can find plenty of decent hostels and mingle with tourists from around the globe. Staying in this area also puts you within walking distance of the city's major museums and best nightlife options. If you prefer to sleep in a quieter area and visit this busy district during the day, consider accommodations in the northern section of the city, which includes the upscale neighborhood Zona T.
