Plaza de Bolivar, Bogota
(3.4/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web)
Start your tour of historical Bogota by visiting Plaza de Bolivar, one of the city's most iconic sights. A statue of Simon Bolivar forms the central point of the square. Erected in 1846, it represents Bogota's first public monument and commemorates the military leader who helped liberate multiple nations from Spanish rule. Historical buildings surround the plaza on all sides, including the national capitol, the house of the supreme court, the mayor's office, and the Cathedral of Bogota. Often very lively, the square makes an excellent location for people-watching, and right next to it you can find a selection of cafes and bars. Many of Bogota's top sights are just a short walk from here. Use our Bogota vacation builder to add Plaza de Bolivar and other attractions to your Bogota vacation plans.

  • There's nothing particular, but it is in La Candelaria so you'll see it. It's interesting approaching carp and against peace and read his posters

  • The square symbol of the city located in the center of the old town (La Candelaria) it looks dirty and marred in it are the Cathedral, the Capitol, Mayor, courthouse, there are many beggars and hawkers selling souvenirs and food for the pigeons since in the plaza there are hundreds of pigeons. A central place could be more picturesque as the entire floor is cobbled there is a tree, or source of water or any plant a disappointment only the architectural environment

  • While mixing different styles get extraordinary harmony and amplitude. Is very varied and with regard to styles and people. Everytime I go to Bogotá I like go and walk around there. It is very convenient that one of their esquinitas there is a tourist office that can help you.
