#8 of 33 in Museums in Bogota
Watch colorful projections light up the domed ceiling as the mysteries of the universe reveal themselves to you at Planetarium of Bogota. Opened in 1969 and part of a cultural complex of nine museums, the planetarium educates visitors about the planets and the stars, as well as the physical world around them. Check out the half-hour projection show, in Spanish, at the planetarium's domed theater, then encourage the kids to get hands-on as they explore the museum's interactive displays. • I went twice. The first to see the Planetarium and the second to see the laser show. I discovered that it is "Much more than Star". * There are temporary exhibitions. A mi played me an exhibition about the brain, much interesting, because while we all have one, we know little of the. And it was so easy that even children could understand it. * Is the Space Museum. There are so many interesting things to see and experience (i.e. interactive) that I missed time to appreciate everything. * The dome, where you can see the stars, is a wonderful experience. No matter that it has seen exhibitions in different planetary (in Mexico, in Brazil, in Colombia), whenever one is immersed in the universe seen through the eyes of the astronomers, one is stunned and can one again to see, because through the years they are still discovering new things in the universe. * On some days of the week nights, the dome for exhibitions of laser beams is occupied with music of someone famous. I went to see the Show of Pink Floyd's Wall. The creators of this show are a few geniuses, it is an art as they combine music with images. It is worth seeing. * There is a mini-library for children. With issues related to the universe, either real or fantasy. Cannot see him, alone, with friends or family.

  • My boyfriend and I payed for the projection of stars show and at the beginning it looked promising but during it, it was quite static and the narrators talked in a very animated voice (for children).  more »

  • A small museum and a dome cinema where you receive information mostly about constellations. I was expecting more. Especially the dome could have been used for a much more interesting display. A bit disappointing in the end.
  • Everytime I go I feel that it gets better. Is not a big place, but there is plenty of stuff to be learned. It takes about one afternoon to visit the whole place and is not expensive. The restaurant is also good
  • Everything is good but the "stars show" with that clown - nothing to do with the actual stars projection
  • The planetarium of Bogotá is amazing place where activities are dedicated to astronomy, cience, history, culture and technology. The domo and the space museum they are the pleces where there is more programming for any public or astronomy lovers and in the coference nooms science lectores other topics of interest. • Beautiful place to see, I love to see the part of the stars and the sky is marvelous, the place is quiet and makes me want to think and write about all the great that humanity has to discover around the universe.

Where to stay in Bogota

Many visitors to Bogota stay in La Candelaria, a colonial-era neighborhood in the city center where you can find plenty of decent hostels and mingle with tourists from around the globe. Staying in this area also puts you within walking distance of the city's major museums and best nightlife options. If you prefer to sleep in a quieter area and visit this busy district during the day, consider accommodations in the northern section of the city, which includes the upscale neighborhood Zona T.
