Casa de Moneda - Coleccion Numismatica del Banco de la Republica, Bogota

(3.9/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
At Casa de Moneda - Coleccion Numismatica del Banco de la Republica, follow the history of local currency chronologically, from pre-Columbia days through the 20th century. Housed in a historical mint, the museum includes collections of machinery, banknotes, coins, and more. As you progress through time, you'll note a transition from the goods-exchange system of the tribes before European contact to the coin-based economy under Spanish colonial rule. Along the way, you'll also learn a lot about the nation's social, economic, and political development, both before and after its independence from Spain. Although many displays feature only Spanish text, you can enjoy much of the museum visually. • Is a site that should not be allowed to visit. Organized, illustrative, with ease of visitation. It was a surprise to me know the history of the Colombian people visiting the Museum. Along with Botero Museum, Museo del Oro, the Mint way what I saw more significant in Bogota.
