Specialty Museum
At Casa de Moneda - Coleccion Numismatica del Banco de la Republica, follow the history of local currency chronologically, from pre-Columbia days through the 20th century. Housed in a historical mint, the museum includes collections of machinery, banknotes, coins, and more. As you progress through time, you'll note a transition from the goods-exchange system of the tribes before European contact to the coin-based economy under Spanish colonial rule. Along the way, you'll also learn a lot about the nation's social, economic, and political development, both before and after its independence from Spain. Although many displays feature only Spanish text, you can enjoy much of the museum visually. • As the name implies it was the Colombian Mint. Today, an important Museum on the history of minting coins. At the scene were minted the first gold coins of America, from 1621. Guard an important coin collection that reflect economic, religious and behavioral traits of a population through the ages. It is interesting to follow a visit monitored, because the guide explains how was the process of making the coin.

  • Is in a complex together with the Botero Museum. Admission is free, has wifi and bathrooms. The collection is interesting. As the space was the Mint of the season saved the doors of the safes. Super interesting that!
