Built on a high spot on the island of Carex, Castillo San Fernando de Bocachica served as as a defense for the Colombian army in the 18th century. Be sure to go down to the vaults: once used as prisons to hold opponents captive, they now provide an insight into life in previous centuries. While tours are given in Spanish, audio devices with headphones are available for non-Spanish speakers.   • It is a monument in memory of the history of cartagena, unfortunately it has not been retained in the same way as san felipe, the inhabitants of the area have taken it as bath public, making it an unpleasant place to visit, in addition to odors one finds with the siege of residents requiring practically beg to tourists , an area with extreme poverty.

  • I'm Colombian and I love Cartagena, El Castillo de San Felipe is spectacular, I recommend for those who like to know the history of the place the audio guides, they are excellent to learn how it was built and because of the infrastructure.

  • Very nice historical place. The inhabitants of the island strive to serve lunch and guide tourists in the Fort, giving interesting information. The bad thing is that the tourist who in some ways captive Guide and when to ask for a tip, is generated a tense moment, why ask for values that are excessive.

  • It is a place that even though is very little visited has an excellent history that all visitors should know and know this place is magical and its inhabitants are a great personality bocachica recommend the enchanted island. It is a good family plan to learn about history and its beaches.
