Built on a high spot on the island of Carex, Castillo San Fernando de Bocachica served as as a defense for the Colombian army in the 18th century. Be sure to go down to the vaults: once used as prisons to hold opponents captive, they now provide an insight into life in previous centuries. While tours are given in Spanish, audio devices with headphones are available for non-Spanish speakers.   • Very nice historical place. The inhabitants of the island strive to serve lunch and guide tourists in the Fort, giving interesting information. The bad thing is that the tourist who in some ways captive Guide and when to ask for a tip, is generated a tense moment, why ask for values that are excessive.
