Zoo of the city of Barranquilla, Barranquilla

3.1
#1 of 9 in Parks in Barranquilla
Watch pink flamingos frolick at Zoo of the city of Barranquilla. Opened in 1956, the zoo houses several rare species, including one of the few remaining white tigers in the world. Walk through the small zoo's jungle paths to admire a range of native and exotic animals, kept in environments designed to replicate their natural habitats. While many of the animals live in reasonable conditions and are well attended to by zookeepers, several of the enclosures, such as those housing elephants and big cats, seem cramped and insufficient. We were a Saturday with my spouse and my child and it really is a nice place, but animals are very stressed, I'm not sure that space and the conditions in which have the elephant are suitable, it is an animal that size need space to make recor ridos, although the Zoo thanks to its location does not have possibilities of expansion, a move to a place where the elephant have a better conditioned habitat should be considered. The show offered were not available to the public, there is no staff who speak a little of the species is a journey that is made only and there is no staff who guide you or report.

It is a very nice place where can approach the animal life of our country and other countries. Ideal to share a pleasant evening, meet, walk, and reach certain animals closely, feed them, stroking them and take pictures. The only thing negative, I hope is located in spacious and away from the residential area, there are some animals that are not in a preferred Habitat.

Excellent zoo, very well-maintained animals and they have all kinds, also has a part where one can feed the animals, totally recommended!

Where to stay in Barranquilla

Equipped to host the largest festival in the country, Barranquilla has a good set of accommodations catering to a range of tastes, budgets, and interests. Either side of Carrera 46, find pristine chain hotels and smaller independent options with extensive amenities, such as rooftop swimming pools, modern spas, and popular restaurants. Look to the more residential areas for budget-friendly guesthouses, and consider booking a rental apartment if planning on a longer stay. Economical options cluster around Paseo Bolivar, but note the area can be rather sketchy. Be sure to reserve well in advance if planning on visiting for Mardi Gras in February.
