Capilla de Santa Barbara, Barichara

4.6
#2 of 10 in Things to do in Barichara
The simple 18th century chapel of Capilla de Santa Barbara charms with its historical presence and humble appearance. The mainly brick construction shows some age, adding to the chapel's historical appeal. A simple cross and sculpture of an ox pulling a plough greet visitors at the entrance. Lush orange and palm trees surround the chapel, which sits at the top of a hill. The interior remains just as simple, with a few pews and a very small altar. As you exit the chapel, take in the view of the white houses and rows of terracotta-colored tile roofs that line the steep mountain road, and peer out onto the lush countryside that unfolds on the horizon. • There are 4 churches in barichara and Santa barbara is what remains in the part more high, which is the most difficult to get but with the best view to the village, is worth much, as its colonial architecture is very interesting. Sometimes there are exhibitions of art which you can that you charge for entering it.

  • A chapel overlooking the village which also houses temporary exhibitions. You do not regret the rise with its many shops.

  • The first chapel of Barichara, but actually seemed absurd that they charge at a church. Or in Europe is that.

  • Nice place, if you want say thanks to God
  • Neat small church at the top of the town.
  • nice
  • Chapel restored some years ago and very well preserved. It preserves several aspects of its original structure. It is in the upper part of the municipality and is a good plan to go on foot from the main Park. Opposite the chapel there is a tree planted over 200 years ago as you can read it to the interior of the chapel.
