Capilla de Santa Barbara, Barichara

(4.5/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
The simple 18th century chapel of Capilla de Santa Barbara charms with its historical presence and humble appearance. The mainly brick construction shows some age, adding to the chapel's historical appeal. A simple cross and sculpture of an ox pulling a plough greet visitors at the entrance. Lush orange and palm trees surround the chapel, which sits at the top of a hill. The interior remains just as simple, with a few pews and a very small altar. As you exit the chapel, take in the view of the white houses and rows of terracotta-colored tile roofs that line the steep mountain road, and peer out onto the lush countryside that unfolds on the horizon.
