Yellow Dragon Cave, Zhangjiajie

Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
3.7/5 based on 200 reviews on the web
Monstrous in size and allegedly home to a dragon, Yellow Dragon Cave spreads across an area of some 48 hectares (120 acres). This humongous cave system extends some 15 km (9.3 mi) and usually takes two hours to explore, as you traverse some 1,800 steps. Admire LED-lit stalagmites and stalactites grown over millions of years, and marvel at a 50 m (160 ft) high waterfall that seems to come out of nowhere. With an underground lake and its 4,000 sq m (43,000 sq ft) chamber, the tour includes an otherworldly underground river boat ride. Due to the size and lack of facilities in the caves, be sure to use the restroom beforehand.
