Zhifu Island or North Island, is an islet with historical significance in Shandong Province, China. The name of the islet Chefoo was generalized to mean the entire Yantai region in older western literature.EtymologiesPossibilities include: "A Barrier in the Shape of a Magical Plant"* Zhi is a magical and powerful plant, which the island's shape resembles* Fu a barrier of ocean A magical mountain name * From Qin Dynasty's Zhifu, officially changed to the present character in late Qing Dynasty.AdministrationAdministratively, Zhifu Island is a part of Dàtuǎn Village, Xingfu Sub-district, Zhifu District, Yantai City, Shandong Province. Dàtuǎn has a part on the mainland, where the offices and most residents are.HistoryArcheological excavations have uncovered over 200 artifacts, including stone axes, and short axes, pottery fragments, bone needles, and bone hairpins. These and Carbon-14 dating indicated that the island has been settled since the Neolithic period.People were buried here during the Zhou Dynasty, including Duke Kang of Qi, who died on the island in 379 BC. The ruins of the cemetery still exist today. The Lord Yang Temple was built during the early Zhou Dynasty by rulers of the State of Qí in honor of Lord Yang, the fifth deity of the Eight Divine Generals .

  • It is a water or sand is very beautiful, picturesque Island. Especially the sunset in the evening when the moment get rid of good pictures did a fantastic, full.

  • Don't know who managed to call his island-wide toe, closer to the city built by the sea-totally wild, unless you count a couple of challenging tracks in the rocks. The most interesting thing on the Cape-the remains of the coastal fortifications of war with Japan. No tourist infrastructure and there is only an independent mastering on slippery rocks.

Where to stay in Yantai

The main urban area of Yantai offers a number of accommodations, particularly near to the harbor area. With some particularly luxurious options set in old neoclassical buildings, and side-street hostels welcoming backpackers, this central area offers a good level of variety. Look west of here to the mouth of the Jiahe River for a group of luxury hotels looking out over Taozi Bay, offering a wealth of additional facilities. Even further west along the coast, the old water city of Penglai offers a number of hotels and hostels close to its historic sites and other attractions.
