  • Yantai is famous for wine-producing region, among them Zhang Yu and wine brands in the name of the most famous wines. Exhibited many of wine, a tasting room and it was a good experience.

  • We went to the Museum around 11:30. We bought the most expensive tour with proves of 4 wines. The value of the ticket cost 150rmb. Note number 1: there is no tour guide who speaks English. Second: you get free by the Museum just reading a bunch of frames and lack interactivity about what happened and what you're reading. The story is often not sequenced, starts, go to the end, shows awards and then you start seeing it all again. I thought the graphics outdated, as for example, leaving the outside Chile as one of the largest producers of wine. Point three: at the time of the tasting there were no people to explain in English about wine and about their names. Just let the bowls and informed the order. Worth knowing, but don't expect to have a reception as in a Chilean Winery/Italian.

  • This might be interesting if one read Chinese but in that I can't it really was a waste of time. Plus the wine is really very poor.  more »

  • Thanks to the wonderful students, people and city of Yantai for letting me experience a fascinating museum that reflects the wonderful, but complex relationship between China and the world. The Germans gave China the gift of modern wine production. With it, the hard work and ingenuity allowed Chinese people to expand and improve the wines over the years. The museum is a gem- as great an experience as the Napa Valley vineyards or the caves of Epernay. Special thanks to SDIBT, which invited me in March 2016 to teach a course on Real Estate and finance. The students were bright and the hospitality was epic. I hope to return soon to teach (and learn ) again. Yantai was once an American navy base until 1938. I can imagine that the American missionaries, traders and military enjoyed the hospitality. The city has many things to see and I hope to see it in the summer some day when the beaches are full.
  • Strange Museum, looks more like a wine shop. In the basement is mostly an empty barrels. The tasting glass in one 2 gave red in the other white))) are machines where you can pour them for money and brandy.

With some particularly luxurious options set in old neoclassical buildings, and side-street hostels welcoming backpackers, this central area offers a good level of variety. Look west of here to the mouth of the Jiahe River for a group of luxury hotels looking out over Taozi Bay, offering a wealth of additional facilities.
