Moon Hill, Yangshuo County

3.2
#2 of 19 in Parks in Yangshuo County
Ponder over Mother Nature's curious formations at Moon Hill, a 380 m (1,246 ft) limestone peak with a moon-shaped hole just underneath it. As you approach this karst arch--mounting 800 marble steps to reach it--the hole changes its shape from a nascent to half moon. Farther up on the top, take in a 360-degree view of Yangshuo some 8 km (5 mi) away, as well numerous craggy hills and rice fields. The area also features 14 rock climbing routes of various difficulties, and souvenirs and refreshments are sold on site. Cycling fans should check out the bike park at the foot of the hill. • Entrance costs 15 yuan (with discount for students who have studied in China) and definitely worth it: immediately at the entrance you can appreciate the beauty of the hill from below, but after 800 steps (quietly in 20/30 minutes) the setting is even more stunning: you can admire all the surrounding hills, and you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of tourism. A must see

  • Although it is a hard hike to actually get up the hill, the view from the top truly is worth it. You can see for miles around and the rock face is brilliant to see up close and if you go as a tour, as...  more »
  • We went with a few scooters to Moon Hill, because we had heard so much good in advance of them. Unfortunately, you are welcomed below by a horde of Chinese ladies, who wanted to sell a super annoying way. You blew us unfortunately somewhat the rise. Once at the top, the view was of course good, but not breathtaking. Older women, which we would have helped during the ascent, eased the tip us up above to run. The mortgage leads up to the top of the Hill on which stands the Chinese flag. Is the way to the top actually marked by a sign which is not "for tourists". The trail is exhausting, because you must fight through through the undergrowth, was worth it but most definitely!
