Bifengxia Panda Reserve, Ya'an
(4.1/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Although it offers scenic landscapes of lush vegetation, green valleys, gorges, and waterfalls, Bifengxia Panda Reserve attracts visitors for one reason above all others: the chance to care for giant pandas. The base became home to several giant pandas who lost their home during the 2008 earthquake, and nowadays serves as an important reserve for the endangered creatures. Take a safari or take a lift down into the gorge and walk to the reserve, passing waterfalls along the way. Once at the reserve, walk around the bamboo woods, where you can visit a breeding area and a baby care zone. You can prepare food for the pandas, feed them, and clean up after their meal. If you get tired of walking around--the distances between enclosures are quite large--catch a shuttle to get from place to place. • I was disappointed by this reserve. I had chosen this reserve rather than Chengdu, thinking it would be Wilder. In fact, at the opening, we had the pleasure of seeing a panda out to eat his eucalyptus. Three minutes later, a group of Chinese speaking loudly, according to their habit, did return to his cabin... We have seen that three pandas, by far, on their platform. I had the impression of being in a zoo and not at all in a natural setting, even is they space. It's far from is ' year eta my opinion not worth the trip.
