Bifengxia Panda Reserve, Ya'an

Wildlife Area
Although it offers scenic landscapes of lush vegetation, green valleys, gorges, and waterfalls, Bifengxia Panda Reserve attracts visitors for one reason above all others: the chance to care for giant pandas. The base became home to several giant pandas who lost their home during the 2008 earthquake, and nowadays serves as an important reserve for the endangered creatures. Take a safari or take a lift down into the gorge and walk to the reserve, passing waterfalls along the way. Once at the reserve, walk around the bamboo woods, where you can visit a breeding area and a baby care zone. You can prepare food for the pandas, feed them, and clean up after their meal. If you get tired of walking around--the distances between enclosures are quite large--catch a shuttle to get from place to place.
