Qing Long Si, Xi'an

3.8
#7 of 22 in Museums in Xi'an
Specialty Museum Museum
Learn about Chinese Buddhism at Qing Long Si, built by members of the Tang dynasty in 582 CE. Having suffered damage and destruction over its long history, today the temple represents a mid 20th-century reconstruction of the Tang architectural style. Visit the memorial halls for former monks, as well as exhibits with objects excavated from the area. Take a walk or simply sit on one of the benches in the park that surrounds the temple. Since monks live and pray there, not all parts of the site are accessible to tourists. Work out when and for how long to visit Qing Long Si and other Xi'an attractions using our handy Xi'an holiday planner.

Where to stay in Xi'an

As in most Chinese cities, the least expensive places to stay in Xi'an concentrate around the main train station. To stay in a quieter and safer area, look for rooms in or near the city center, where you can choose between mid-range hotels and affordable youth hostels catering to backpackers and other travelers on a budget. Tourists with bargaining experience can usually get deeply discounted rooms through agents working the shuttle bus station at the airport. If you'd rather avoid dealing with touts, book your accommodations ahead.
