Muslim Quarter, Xi'an

(4.3/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web)
Immerse yourself in the Islamic culture located within the city center at Muslim Quarter. Inhabited by about 20,000 Muslims, the quarter covers several blocks and shelters some of the oldest and best-preserved mosques in China. Explore the dark-colored stone streets, which contain residence and business buildings modelled on the styles of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Get acquainted with the friendly descendants of first Muslim diplomatic and merchant immigrants who operate restaurants, shops, and workshops, and maintain their own traditions and customs. Also, try out local dishes sold by street vendors and check out market stalls offering authentic handicrafts and exquisite souvenirs. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Muslim Quarter and many more Xi'an attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Xi'an vacation generator.

  • I believe the Chinese people live in Islam, the times's foot distance. A lot of the Islamic People's Republic of China dishes. But never did look clean.

  • Nice place to hang around after sunset. Many branches of the walkway leads to another enclave. Fantastic.
  • Street food paradise! One of the most lively and colorful districts of Xi'an. The Chinese Muslim influence is really visible.
  • Very crowded and touristy. Also a bit pricey. It is basically a big food market. No historic value.
  • An excellent place to be to experience the Muslim township in the middle of Xi'an. Great muslim food of all sorts and flavours. Prices are good, eating places are clean although at the street level, you may find things that are disorganised. There are over 160 million Muslim in China and Xi'an city has about 30% Muslim populations.
  • Great shops, wonderful food, and some very creative pickpockets.
