Civic Center Landmark
Set in the midst of Xi’an city, Dayan Tower Cultural and Leisure Scenic Resort houses a World Heritage Site known as Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Originally built in 652 CE, the 60 m (197 ft) tall tower was designed as a home for sutras and Buddha statues brought from India. Part of the Da Ci’en Temple, the 10-story pagoda’s Guardian Hall features five gilded Buddhas in glass vitrines, while the temple itself features 13 separate courtyards with 1,879 different rooms. Enjoy the well-maintained and intricately designed gardens around the temple, and keep you eyes peeled for occasional dance shows in the park. A statue of the famous translator Xuanzang, who brought first sutras from India, stands in the courtyard. East of the temple lies a forest with nine pagodas containing relics of abbots.
