Island Nature / Park
Nature and history meet at Liugong Island, a Qing dynasty navy base that now serves as a nature park with rare birds, deer, and pandas. Enjoy the black pine and green cypress forests of the national park, and take a cable car to the highest peak of 152 m (500 ft). Understand the development of the Chinese navy at the museum detailing the 1894-1895 Sino-Japanese war. There, check out the two huge cannons of the first Chinese German-made Jiyuan cruiser, and inspect the armory room's maps and photos testifying to the island's tumultuous history and strategic importance. You can also visit the former British residence and memorial to the British 1898-1930 lease period. A 20-minute boat ride from the Weihai tourism dock will take you to this scenic, historic island. Our Weihai itinerary planner makes visiting Liugong Island and other Weihai attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
