#3 of 34 in Parks in Suzhou
Garden · Nature / Park
The finest specimen of Suzhou's World Heritage-listed classical gardens, Lion Forest Garden features lion-shaped, highly porous limestone from Lake Tai, forming a multistory rock maze up to 7 m (23 ft) in height. In addition to its famous labyrinthine grotto, the garden features a central pond, a miniature mountain of yellow stone, a small cave, and a number of paved paths. Climb to the observation area of a pavilion once favored by Emperor Qianlong, and watch as others try to find their way out of the three-level labyrinth, which spans 1,154 sq m (12,421 sq ft) with nine paths and 21 caves. Two other richly ornamented pavilions house numerous tablets and carved screens. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Lion Forest Garden by using our Suzhou vacation planner.

  • It is a creative architecture from the 14th century. Then some emperors ordered to replicated its style into their royal garden in Beijing. Very interesting but be carefully exploring. I would spend 30 minutes here.
  • It was larger and it seemed and it was fun going through the rock maze inside.
  • Amazing historical building. To be at the place is Like a walk back in time
  • It's incredibly beautiful here. The stones are like a rocky maze and there is so much to see since it is a really big garden. There are lots of people here since it's a popular tourist attraction and only cost 40¥ to come in.
  • Wonderful park, very relaxing and beautiful trees
