Listed as a World Heritage Site, Humble Administrator's Garden represents one of the city's most famous and largest gardens. The garden was built during the Shaoxing period and endured constant change throughout history, usually under private governance. Covering an area of 51,590 sq m (555.310 sq ft), the maze-like site contains numerous Ming-style elaborate pavilions, courtyards, and bridges, which connect islands and pools. You can explore three sections of the garden, where you can behold many natural and cultural landmarks. Also, attend the frequently held floral exhibitions, where you can learn much about plant life and see examples of bonsai trees, lotuses, and other flowers. Too many people. Difficult to enjoy the garden. Not easy to take photographs too. Did not really enjoy the garden although it is beautiful. more »

I really love this place. So beautiful and peaceful. Love it so much! But be careful with crowd. I came to this place with some mass tourist, and it's so terrible. 😑 But this place so huge, just make sure to move more quickly and you can pass them 😂

Beautiful and peaceful. You have a lot of scenery to take amazing pictures with small streams, bridges and pagodas. Highly recommend if you happen to be in the area. Its only about half an hour bullet train ride from Shanghai...

One of Suzhou's most famous traditional Chinese garden and a popular tourist spot among local and regional visitors. The entire garden is vast, impressive along with well maintained landscape and architecture to match. Highly recommended if you enjoy spending a couple of hours relaxing and a long strol in the park. One more thing, upon arrival before the main gate, especially for out of town or foreign visitors, one will be pestered with tour guide services from local trade which can be annoying; but then again, it is not necessarily bad if you came with a big group, needed guidance and Mandarin is not your native language.

The Humble Administrator Garden is one of the most iconic tourist attractions in the area and I hate to say it but we were a but let down by this one. In between the heavy crowd loads, which drove difficulty exploring the Garden without continuously being bumped into or obstructed views from tour groups. We also went during fall, which we thought would be pretty but it seems like a lot of the garden was not in good condition. The temples were beautiful and the overall ambiance was calming and serene. But overall I would not personally recommend the Humble Administrator Gardens and just enjoy the beautiful city instead

Absolutely beautiful gardens! One of the best in China! You have to get the guide to take you around for the full experience, you have to hear all of the stories about why the buildings are in a certain area or why the bridge is not straight across the water etc. Some very interesting stories about the old days. Definitely worth a visit. Also the food in SuZhou is fantastic! I would certainly recommend these gardens and I would go again, also very cheap to get in.
