Yunnan Stone Forest Geological Park, Shilin County
(4.2/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Get a close-up look at some of the Earth's most iconic natural oddities at Yunnan Stone Forest Geological Park, a World Heritage Site home to a vast sea of jagged rock formations. The park spans a huge swathe of forested landscape, punctuated by the area's famous limestone peaks, known alternatively as "karst." You'll find that the clusters of ridges and formations, some of which reach heights of 40 m (131 ft), give the appearance of stone trees and lend the park its name. Wander the network of paved pathways through the main clusters, where you'll find all sorts of crevices and side canyons splitting off from the main route. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can occasionally be rough on the feet. Make Yunnan Stone Forest Geological Park a part of your Shilin County vacation plans using our Shilin County tour planner.
