Sea World, Shenzhen

4.2
#1 of 14 in Fun & Games in Guangdong
Take a stroll through Shenzhen’s Sea World, a popular hangout spot centered around a large ship. Don’t expect to see a dolphin show here; even though the the attraction shares its name with the US-based theme park, it is actually a scenic waterfront promenade and plaza, lined with an array of bars and restaurants. Admire the square’s centerpiece, the “Minghua,” a ship built in France in the 1960s and docked here in Shenzhen. Choose from a variety of international cuisines to dine on, enjoy a walk by the sea, or head to one of the lively bars that surround the area. For Sea World and beyond, use our Shenzhen road trip site to get the most from your Shenzhen vacation.

  • Cool plaza with lots of restaurants and cafes, many western brands and a western market. There's a cool ship as the centre piece and there's supposed to be a fountain show in the pool next to the ship 2-3 times per night but they seemed to be doing maintenance work on it both the nights I was there so it wasn't on. Worse part is everyone was waiting around for it to happen and there weren't any notices or announcements to let people know, so that's annoying.
  • A good number of restaurants line a Faux European Plaza, also a row waterfront restaurants looking at the Cruise Inn boat hotel sitting in its little pool.
  • Great restaurants nearby, very western or Asian cuisine! Lots of bars and clubs! Worth a visit at night time with water shows! Must try the Latina Brazilian BBQ with lots of fresh meat!
  • Best place in Shenzhen to visit. It was the first economic zone in China that allow foreign investment come. Developed by the China Merchant company and then recently get renovated. Various dining options are offered and bilingual service as well.
  • Nice place to visit

Where to stay in Shenzhen

With the city quickly developing into a modern metropolis, Shenzhen accommodations have done well to keep up with the pace of change in the downtown area. The area south of Tanglangshan Country Park right down to Hong Kong's border offers an area rich in places to stay. Whether you're looking for some high-rise luxury, or a side-street dormitory, this central area has a large degree of variety. Located close to the main sightseeing highlights, and well served by public transport, the area stretches out to the east and to the west, with accommodations becoming less regular the further you go.
