Dong Men Pedestrian Street, Shenzhen

3.7
Join the commercial hustle and bustle down Dong Men Pedestrian Street, a lively, varied, and carless shopping area. A maze of side streets feed from the main strip, creating a walkable shopping district of multi-level malls, markets, and eateries. The main street features a number of clothes stores, fit to burst with men and women's fashion, shoes, bags, belts, and more, while the main drag's offshoots offer more traditional market stalls, with trinkets, teas, and souvenirs to buy. Multi-level malls dedicated to just one thing--shoes, comics, haircare products, and so on--make the sheer wealth of stock a thing to see in itself. • Went 7 years pretending to have previously sold in bags and DVD copy here and there, but was quite organized like, I really felt pretty trendy. However, still has a large turnout in the downtown area of Shenzhen, shops and eateries are big success. Lunch 11 am was too much so we were seated in the room, but was almost fully booked situation at 12 o'clock.

  • Fussy messy crowded cheap shopping area. In front of every shop there's someone trying to make some noise with all kinds of tools (flapping plastic plates, recorded voice advertising, a person's own h...  more »

  • Very good shopping here. There are probably like 20 malls or bunches of street shops, from more branded to cheap stuff. You can bargain for cheaper prices. Food wise it doesn't seem that great, but you can have McDonalds, KFC and some cafes. It gets rather crowded during peak hours and messy, but it's still manageable.
  • I love this street, so many cheap offline store that sell clothes, foods, beverages, unique things, creative home necessities, stationary, etc. There're several malls too but I suggest to visit local stores instead of mall, you can bargain the price there, unfortunately some sellers offer a really really high price so be careful. Also there're 3-4 MINISO outlets there, where you can find so many cheap office supplies- stationary-creative home necessities, etc. The best thing among all from this street is of course the foods.... So many great street food with cheap price, try the mango juice (USD 3.1) and their authentic snack called JianBing (Crunchy vegetarian friendly snack - USD 1). You can find pork feet, pork satay, stinky tofu, durian soft cake (10 元 for 3 pieces), until extreme animal satay here. Mihi Mihi also a must try cost about 12 元 about USD 1.8 Unfortunately, most of Chinese people didn't understand English language, that's why it'll be better for you to learn basic Chinese conversations. Also, you can't use google in China, please use VPN to access google.
  • Possibly the busiest place in all shenzhen , full if food stalls and affordable products. I recommend to visit it by night.
  • Famous shopping area in Shenzhen for clothes at basement prices. LaoJie Subway exit takes you right into the area. There is a galore of shops on the ground, underground, and above ground.
  • Amazingly affordable clothes, shoes, bags. Bargainable too.

Where to stay in Shenzhen

With the city quickly developing into a modern metropolis, Shenzhen accommodations have done well to keep up with the pace of change in the downtown area. The area south of Tanglangshan Country Park right down to Hong Kong's border offers an area rich in places to stay. Whether you're looking for some high-rise luxury, or a side-street dormitory, this central area has a large degree of variety. Located close to the main sightseeing highlights, and well served by public transport, the area stretches out to the east and to the west, with accommodations becoming less regular the further you go.
