The oldest Qing-period imperial architecture complex, Shenyang Imperial Palace (Gu Gong) makes up part of a World Heritage Site. Admire a whole complex of 17th-century palaces with intricate interior ornaments and pavilions displaying royal tablets, porcelain and jade vases, and elaborately ornamented robes. Spanning 6 hectares (14.8 acres) with 114 well-preserved and restored ancient buildings, the complex reflects the full glory of the Manchurian dynasty, which ruled China until 1917. See the sword by dynasty founder Nurhaci, who commissioned the palace's construction in 1625. Take an informative guided tour for full insight into this architectural gem.
