Tian Zi Fang, Shanghai
(4.1/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
Part of the French Concession area, Tian Zi Fang has transformed from a traditional residential area into a modern arts and crafts enclave. Supported and swarmed by young designers, trend setters, and expatriates, the labyrinthine district houses numerous boutique shops, workshops, studios, bars, and restaurants. The area blends Shikumen buildings with British- and Spanish-styled castles, traditional Chinese meals with international flavors, and the eastern culture with a western charm. A lot of boutiques and galleries offer a variety of handmade novelty souvenirs for sale, arrive early to purchase them, as such limited editions sell out quickly. • In my Top 3 favourite places of Shanghai. You can spend half of the day over there. Many different cafes and restaurants in between tiny streets like in some small european towns. Shops have some very...  more »
  • It's about souvenir, arts, crafts. I find it quite fun to shop around as there are many shops and even stalls available here. It's not about super brand, it's local and I think local will go too.
  • Renovated shikumen Stone Gate building, maze-like areas there are restaurants and grocery store. Wide range of sophisticated gadgets cheap herbal specialty stores and is recommended for both tourist and souvenir shopping. Part has contributed to the food Hall like Super haunt with the locals. Also glimpse the diet, is recommended. Has been shopping at the herbal store, but seemed able to pay Japan yen or US dollars.

  • There are a lot of specialty and local shops here. You'll be amazed about some of their creations. Lane 210 has the most equisite finds. It can be crowded due to its steep walkways but nevertheless, it's worth visiting.
  • Its actually like a highend night market kinda place which is open during day and night. Placed inside small streets in which if it gets crowdy it might tip you off. You'll see lots of concept food and things that you might wanna buy but really dont need. Be aware though that prices here are a lot more expensive. So don't go souvenir shopping here unless you have already check the price elsewhere. Some shops i notice Shirts Leathergoods Chinese art stuff Magnets Electronic shop Visited September 2015
  • There are always too many people any time you visit here. Too crowded to stop to browse the shops. But it's OK 'cause the quality of the stuffs sold in the shops are far lower than their prices.
  • It is especially beautiful at night when you can stroll around the streets and enjoy the small shops and little bars...
  • If you're looking for D.I.Y and creative stuffs. This will be the place you like it.
