Garden Bridge, Shanghai

3.7
#110 of 738 in Things to do in Shanghai
The only surviving truss bridge in the country, Garden Bridge represents an example of heritage architecture and remains a popular landmark for citizens and tourists. One of four original Western-designed bridges, it was constructed in 1908 out of steel imported all the way from England to accommodate trams and automobiles. Over the years the bridge has seen many historical events, including assassinations and strategic closures. Strolling along its length, take in distinctive scenery on both banks of Suzhou Creek: old-fashioned backstreets to the north, and Western-style buildings to the south. A night visit reveals a vibrant scene, with the bridge colorfully lit and the city lights twinkling beyond. • Go to Waitan must go, remember the first two years of overhaul, but on a few months seems to be a truck and so on, so it has been tinkering many times it. There is a historical sense of a bridge, steel structure, you can overlook Pujiang, many wedding dresses are in the vicinity of concave shape. I pass by when I think of a work of Cao Yu, "Sunrise", a very old film, is Fanchou and Wang Shihui, and so on, that time is still very small, looked at several times also seems to have not read it, haha. There is Maggie Cheung starring "Ruan" has waibaidu bridge scenes, but think about quite a lot of films have, very iconic landmark.
