3.7/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web
Among the oldest religious places in the area, Mazu Temple of Sanya was built to commemorate Cangjie, the man who created Chinese writing characters. After the Qing Dinasty's downfall, the place was neglected and abandoned until the local people renovated it, transforming it into a temple. See the colorful building, a memorable example of Chinese architecture, today mostly visited to honor Mazu, protector of sailors and all those who live near the sea.
