Qingdao Beer Street, Qingdao

3.1
#5 of 44 in Sightseeing in Qingdao
Landmark Tourist Spot
Stroll through Qingdao Beer Street and experience the vibrant heart of the city's food and drink district, a historical home to China's most famous beer. Neighboring the old Tsingtao brewery, you'll notice the street's architecture feels distinctly European, due to the 19th-century German invasion of Qingdao--a leading factor in the city's rich beer culture. Today, discover over 60 bars and restaurants serving up fresh seafood with a frosty glass of Chinese pilsner. If you feel the need to brush up on your history, the brewery is now home to China's first beer museum. Where to stay in Qingdao

For upmarket, high-rise hotels in Qingdao, look at the area to the east of the center, largely revamped in time for the 2008 Olympics. Here, skyscraper chain hotels jostle for position on the main streets, offering sea views and a wealth of additional facilities, while humbler options sit on the side streets, offering more basic lodgings, but still in new blocks. To the west, the more historic districts have a good set of hostels, hotels, and guesthouses to suit a wide range of budgets and tastes.
