Tianyi Library, Ningbo

(4.3/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Immerse yourself in culture at Tianyi Library, China’s oldest, existing library. Stroll through the beautifully maintained gardens and courtyards and marvel at the traditional Ming Dynasty architecture. The library dates to 1561, and once upon a time contained a collection of over 70,000 antique books. Sadly, the British took many books after the Second Opium War, and thieves stole many more. The collection now stands at around 30,000. Due to the age and importance of the books, most now reside in a climate-controlled environment and away from public display. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere as you explore this complex and soak up the history. • 環境優雅清新,遺憾的是不能上樓親自看看原版藏書,只能看到藏書的複製件,當然這樣做都能更好地保存圖書而不被破壞。
  • Very friendly place for a walk and little bit of a reflection and time away from the daily rush. Beautiful scenery
