Sun Yatsen Mausoleum (Zhongshan Ling), Nanjing

4.3
Perched atop a giant staircase, Sun Yatsen Mausoleum (Zhongshan Ling) pays tribute to a hugely influential figure in the founding of modern China. Start in the main square below the staircase and head up the slope through the towering ceremonial arch. Climb the 400 steps to reach the mausoleum itself, an imposing marble structure topped with decorative blue tiles. Admire the tile work of the crypt ceiling, and note the white sun on a blue background, the symbol of Sun Yatsen's Kuomintang Party. Check out the inscriptions and tablets within the inner chambers of the structure--strangely enough, Yatsen received honors from both his former nationalist party and the communist government. Don't miss the actual tomb, a copper sarcophagus topped by a statue of the leader. Plan my Nanjing trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • The mausoleum of Sun yatsen is spectacular for its Majesty ... Arm yourself with good shoes, water and camera! The mausoleum is located in a huge park where there are other attractions (purple mountain, Linggu temple, the Ming tombs) so to get there you must take one of the trains have agreements that are located at the entrance to the Park, unless you want to make several kilometres feet. Once you arrive you have to face another walk to the Spanish steps, do not panic, once at the top you will understand that it will be worth it!

Where to stay in Nanjing

You won't find a shortage of accommodations in Nanjing, a modern metropolis long on the radars of domestic and international tourists. Look south of the main railway station, following Central Road, to find the primary districts where visitors stay, with clusters of high-rise hotels--some luxurious and others standard, but all comfortable. A number of smaller boutiques set in formerly residential buildings provide atmospheric, well-maintained, and budget-friendly options. Take a look at the side streets around Central Road for a wealth of hostels and guesthouses.
