Sun Yatsen Mausoleum (Zhongshan Ling), Nanjing

(4.3/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web)
Perched atop a giant staircase, Sun Yatsen Mausoleum (Zhongshan Ling) pays tribute to a hugely influential figure in the founding of modern China. Start in the main square below the staircase and head up the slope through the towering ceremonial arch. Climb the 400 steps to reach the mausoleum itself, an imposing marble structure topped with decorative blue tiles. Admire the tile work of the crypt ceiling, and note the white sun on a blue background, the symbol of Sun Yatsen's Kuomintang Party. Check out the inscriptions and tablets within the inner chambers of the structure--strangely enough, Yatsen received honors from both his former nationalist party and the communist government. Don't miss the actual tomb, a copper sarcophagus topped by a statue of the leader. • Beautiful and historical place to visit. You can walk up to the site but we opt and were glad to pay more for the shuttle. After you arrive at the site, there is more climbing to reach the mausoleum. ...  more »
  • 2016-12-24 by taxi from the hotel 40 minutes 35 Yuan, 9:00 before to depots in sight. Walking road while walking through the downtown (souvenir shop) and there in Ling garden entrance gate, is free. To pass through the gate, and so finally in sight entrance gate "charity band". It took me about 20 minutes so far. As we walked out the grave at the end is 1 vs lion "mausoleum gate". Secure check here. Has 392 stairs "Pavilion" and enter the "mausoleum gate", here, and named after the original population 392 million people in front of me. Summit climb is the Temple of Sun Yat. 9 at half-time arrived. Spread out from the Festival Hall, with spectacular views. Was plenty of tourists, but travelling is like a little bit late, I passed several on the way back. Back at the electric car from rådhusplassen, "charity band" to the Ming Xiaoling mausoleum.
