Qin Huai River, Nanjing

3.5
#3 of 17 in Nature in Nanjing
The lifeblood of Nanjing city, Qin Huai River has shaped local life since Neolithic times. Channeled towards the city in the third century BCE, the river has since given life to a bustling spot where culture and commerce meet. An important tributary of the Yangtse River, a number of prestigious temples have been built on the river banks, most notably Confucius Temple. Take a boat tour along the river to enjoy Nanjing by day or night, checking out a range of different wharfs as you go. You can stroll along river banks and sample local cuisine amid traditinal buildings, or visit a local market on the riverside. Cross the 700-year-old bridge and admire the scenery of the city from above the water. For Qin Huai River and beyond, use our Nanjing trip builder app to get the most from your Nanjing vacation.

Unfortunately we didn't have the walk by the River, but we walk the pedestrian street that is in your area. It is out-of-series. Trade on both sides. You have clothes, shoes, food, ice cream, you. Whatever you want. The architecture is spectacular. And when night falls, they begin to illuminate the street and trade. Beautiful. The atmosphere is spectacular.

Without conditional beauty evening light, creates a good impression. Those who have not seen water like me (live in central China in the city of Dengfeng) it was nice to remember what is the Riverside and a nice breeze. But I did not like the fact how there's a lot of people. First two years living in China, I never caught myself on such thoughts, but here I wanted to escape and fly to the village. Overall a nice place, don't think that it is not worth to visit, though there are many expensive meal, but if you linger or pripozdnitsja here until 10 pm, you can stroll along the same streets virtually alone.

Where to stay in Nanjing

You won't find a shortage of accommodations in Nanjing, a modern metropolis long on the radars of domestic and international tourists. Look south of the main railway station, following Central Road, to find the primary districts where visitors stay, with clusters of high-rise hotels--some luxurious and others standard, but all comfortable. A number of smaller boutiques set in formerly residential buildings provide atmospheric, well-maintained, and budget-friendly options. Take a look at the side streets around Central Road for a wealth of hostels and guesthouses.
