Nanjing Museum, Nanjing

4.4
#3 of 20 in Museums in Nanjing
One of the largest museum spaces in China, Nanjing Museum boasts over 400,000 artifacts spread over more than 70,000 sq m (753,473 sq ft). This is also the first comprehensive museum in China, telling a story about this great civilization since the Paleolithic era, divided into six pavilions. Observe the ancient bull-shaped oil lamp from the Han period, and see unparallel collections of imperial porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties. You can also visit model villages showing ancient life in various regions. Exquisite paintings, jade sculptures, and lacquerware, among many other items, show Chinese arts and crafts at their best. You can enter for free, but you need to flash some ID and fill in an entry form, and you'll find little in the way of English information. • The Nanjing Museum, which is famous for its palace in Beijing, is built in its own antique buildings and is not a historical building, and the exhibition hall is not too Jogoya, the exhibits are not too attractive, can be said to be attracted to disappointment and come back.

  • On my list of the best history museums of China. Particularly impressive is its comprehensive and nuanced exhibition on Wu (吳國) history and culture. For those who refuse to believe that Han Chinese are a homogenous people, here displays the most compelling evidence of Han diversity. Another highlight was the re-creation of ROC era Nanjing. The attention to detail (exclusivity of Traditional Chinese) made it a truly immersive experience.
  • What an amazing experience. This museum is extremely diverse. It has exhibits ranging from art and ancient historical artifacts to having a tea house with live performances and recreating a typical street from the 50s lined with actual shops. Those ranged from gift shops, calligraphy artist, candy makers and cafes. It almost felt like a theme park. I spent nearly 4 hours there. There's so much to see so make sure you plan accordingly.
  • It is true that the museum is young and growing. The exhibit this month on the Russian and Chinese Empires with beautiful. There are many peaceful spots to read. And the museum shops are great!
  • Huge museum, some parts are neglectible, others have a lot to offer. Really enjoyed the Kunqu performances.
  • Big miseum. Historical place and Play.

Where to stay in Nanjing

You won't find a shortage of accommodations in Nanjing, a modern metropolis long on the radars of domestic and international tourists. Look south of the main railway station, following Central Road, to find the primary districts where visitors stay, with clusters of high-rise hotels--some luxurious and others standard, but all comfortable. A number of smaller boutiques set in formerly residential buildings provide atmospheric, well-maintained, and budget-friendly options. Take a look at the side streets around Central Road for a wealth of hostels and guesthouses.
