Mandarin's House, Macau

(4.3/5 based on 320 reviews on the web)
Dating back to 1869, Mandarin's House is a historic residential complex built by Zheng Wenrui and expanded by his sons. This Cantonese-style structure blends Western décor into the architecture and is one of the largest former family houses in Macau. Although more than 300 tenants once rented home here and created poor building conditions, the government eventually seized the complex and established it as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. • Entrance was Free, More informative, and longer to see than majority of other sites. Building is well kept, the house is quiet big with many different rooms, it may just be architecture but it makes y...  more »
  • I was going to end new tour guide body and a few minutes in and a lot of room, filled with other failed. You could see the mood slowly in a very quiet area, unlike the Casino. In succession came many other tourists, but not to large garden and room, so small.

  • Sundays live music. Big estate. Cool. Free
  • We stumbled across this beautiful place while visiting Lilau Square and found it to be yet another example of the pride and care that Macau has taken to care for and showcase it's history and beauty. In streets so vastly juxtaposed against the opulence of the casinos this is a treasure for those who endeavour to see this town for what it is.
  • It's an interesting place for those who like to study Chinese traditional building.
  • After becoming lost in amongst the streets of old Macau - we stumbled upon this treasure. A beautiful home that has been restored, hard to opine that people practiced to live there that long ago. Easily read short plaques on the walls give information about the history of the mansion and the renovation. Definitely worth a visit.
  • A unique old house
